Prime tiger wilderness, Kanha National Park was one of the first areas to be protected under Project Tiger, aimed at preserving this magnificent animal, and remains a renowned conservation area. This picturesque reserve boasts the ideal habitat for both tigers and their prey species. Lush sal and bamboo forests are interspersed with vast grassy meadows known as maidans, while the Banjaar River, which forms the park’s south-western border, provides a steady water source for the abundant wildlife. A huge population of various deer and antelope, including the extremely rare barasingha, supports a large number of tiger, leopard, jackal and wild dog. Embark on morning & late afternoon game drives to fully experience the incredible wildlife here, capturing the stories of survival.

DAY 4: KANHA NATIONAL PARK / BANDHAVGARH NATIONAL PARK

After breakfast, we bid farewell to your hosts at Shergarh journeying north to the Bandhavgarh National Park, an essential stop on any serious tiger safari, renowned for its population of tigers. A relatively small park with thriving wildlife, it offers guests a good chance of encountering the magnificent tiger, as well as other fauna like gaur (which was brought back from temporary localised extinction by the Forest Field Department, by relocating new stock from a neighboring park), jackals, leopards and other smaller cats.  Cradled between the picturesque Vindhya and Satpura mountain ranges, Bandhavgarh boasts a breath-taking mixture of dense green valleys and rocky hills. Mixed deciduous forests and woodlands are interspersed with flat grasslands and serene waterholes – a beautiful setting for exciting safaris!
