To the True North

Remote, adventurous and downright inspiring. We travel to the furthest north accessible by motorized vehicles in Spitsbergen in summer or by snowmobiles in winter. Just like explorers decades ago, we spend days climbing on the glacier, skiing around the fjord and snow valleys and immerse ourselves in the Arctic silence.

Stay in the northernmost lodge in the world

Witness fascinating wildlife such as polar bears, bearded seals,  walruses

Enjoy a range of Arctic activities in the Arctic silence and setting

Arrive into Longyearbyen where you are met and transferred to the Basecamp Hotel for rest and relax. Later, you will be briefed on your program ahead for the next days.

The day starts early after breakfast where you meet your guide, dress up in survival suits before heading to the harbour to the open boat where you will travel all the way to the Billefjorden and Adolfbukta. There are plenty of wildlife around the fjords at this time of the year, so we have good chances to see some arctic birds, walruses, belugas or even the polar bear. Once at Nordenskjold Lodge, we will enjoy an outdoor lunch to get familiar with the cabin and surroundings. After lunch, it is time to head out to the arctic nature and explore the beauty around us. Before the evening, we return to the lodge, prepare a delicious dinner and warm up a sauna.

We start the day with good breakfast and if the weather is good, we can spend the morning to learn how to paddle a kayak. Kayaking is the perfect way to get around in the arctic and the very traditional way to explore the arctic shorelines. After some practice, we set out for a day trip to Brucebyen. We will paddle across the magnificent glacier front with icebergs and arctic wildlife. On the other side of the fjord lies Brucebyen. The small settlement consists of huts that were built 100 years ago by a Scottish geologist. Learn about the fascinating history and after a long day in the cold Arctic sea, it is wonderful to relax in the sauna and then a delicious dinner.

Today, we head out to the majestic Nordenskiold Glacier. We spend the day on the glacier walking up and down in the glacier cracks and enjoying the shining glacier around us. Lunch will be expedition style and as we return in the evening, we enjoy dinner over a bonfire with views of the fjord.
