ITINERARY

DAY 1: KUNUNURRA / MITCHELL PLATEAU

Early this morning, be transferred to Kununurra Airport where you embark on a private Cessna light aircraft for your journey to the Mitchell Plateau. En route, view the Ord River Diversion Dam and irrigated farmlands, and the spectacular Cockburn Ranges. We then arrive at the natural bauxite rich airfield at Mitchell Plateau and warmly greeted by your hosts and guide at the Mitchell Falls Wilderness Lodge where we will enjoy a bush breakfast before heading out by 4WD and a guided walk to the majestic 4-tiered Mitchell Falls where we will spend some time and enjoy a picnic lunch before boarding a helicopter for your flight back to the ranger station and return to the lodge by 4WD. Spend the rest of the day at leisure to enjoy the surroundings and in the evening, tuck into dinner with the quiet and convivial atmosphere before retiring to your comfortable tent.

DAY 2: MITCHELL PLATEAU / HOME VALLEY STATION

Today, reembark on your private Cessna light aircraft as fly over the Cockburn Ranges again and eventually land at the Home Valley Station, nestled close to the Pentecost River at the foot of the Cockburn Range. After some orientation, hop onto a horseback ride to witness the rugged and dramatic landscape with the striking Cockburn Range as your backdrop. In the Stable Round Yards, meet the seasoned horses with introduction from the stockmen before getting on a guided ride along trails which formed part of the original stock route in the 1800s. Nearing sunset, we settled down for a sundowner as you are driven to the Home Valley Station's private lookout to experience unforgettable views as the sun fades to the west bringing shades of red, pink and purple while sampling some Australian wine and cheese and fruit platter.

DAY 3: HOME VALLEY STATION

This morning, enjoy a guided history tour. The Kimberley region has a wondrous history and awe-inspiring landscape and the natural beauty of the Home Valley Station and its surrounds is brought to life as your guide takes you on an informative tour of the area. After your tour ends, travel by 4WD along the rugged and historic Gibb River Road and on to the Bindoola Falls. In the afternoon, consider exploring at leisure on the trails that takes you to some astonishing landscapes.

DAY 4: HOME VALLEY STATION / PURNULULU NATIONAL PARK

A spectacular day begins where you will hop onboard your private Cessna light aircraft flight for your journey into the Purnululu National Park where you will fly over vast cattle stations and the Osmond Ranges before hovering over the spectacular Bungle Bungle Range. Arrive at the Bungle Bungle Wilderness Lodge in the Purnululu National Park - home to the famed black and orange striped domes, ascending to 578m above sea level. Standing over a grass-covered plain, steep cliffs from the western face. Created by the constant erosion of river movements over a staggering 20 million years, the range has both geological and Indigenous cultural significance with an imposing sight that is truly unforgettable. On a guided tour, walk along the Piccaninny Creek, a winding gorge within the Bungle Bungle domes. Your next stop is the natural amphitheatre of Cathedral Gorge, a spacious cavern where the acoustics are astounding. Marvel at the beehive domes as your guide brings the natural history of the range to life.

DAY 5: PURNULULU NATIONAL PARK

We spend another day in the Purnululu National Park where today we enjoy a guided hike into the surreal Echidna Chasm with walls that are over 200m high strewn with amazing conglomerate boulders that provides an insight into the sedimentary origin of the Bungle Bungle Range.

DAY 6: PURNULULU NATIONAL PARK / KUNUNURRA

Our journey ends today with a Cessna light aircraft transfer return to Kununurra Airport where you may continue your onward journey.
